    A Treasure!
THE GIFT: I gave this to my mother as a Christmas present and we made the deal she’d give it back to me (all filled out) the following Christmas. It was the best gift ever, period. It brought back a lot of memories for her, which she truly enjoyed, and I absolutely loved reading it! It made for many good conversations, too, as we talked about the stories she shared.THE PRODUCT:- The book is somewhat small — a larger, hard-bound version would be nice, but at 370 pages it would also raise the price tag!- A “daily journal”, the pages are like a calendar (page one is “January 1”), which set it up so she could fill out one page a day and be done in a year. Of course, she didn’t stick to this, sometimes writing several pages a day or not writing for a few days, but it made it easy to track progress. Also, the questions are sometimes related to the time of year (Thanksgiving, New Year’s Day, summer, etc.).- Some reviewers didn’t like all the questions – consider that it would be impossible to come up with 300+ questions relevant to a specific person’s life! When Mom found a question that she didn’t have a good story for, she just wrote something else or shared a funny story about me (at the dentist) instead of her.- I previewed similar books and found this one to be the best. I bought another one (from son to mom) from a different author and don’t like the questions nearly as much.THE RESULT: A wonderful and endearing gift that I’ll always treasure. I’m also looking forward to my own kids reading it to know more about their grandma. A rare “5 stars” for me!

    Great book
I don’t have too many regrets in my life, as that’s how I try to live, but one regret I do have is not getting this book for my dad before he unexpectedly died 6 years ago. My dad and I were really close, and there are times where I don’t deal with his death and pretend it didn’t happen. I never got to say goodbye as his life was taken from him. I had 26 years with my dad, if you could 26 from the time I was born. I wish I could read his exact words to questions I could have asked him. I got this book for my mom as she is dealing with stage 4 cancer. I moved to a different state and havnt visited much, but she’s come up here many times. When I go and visit her soon, I’m going to fill out this book. It’s day by day as you can do a question a day, but I have 7 days to get it all done. I like this book. It’s a hard cover the one I ordered, and I will be able to someday show to my nieces as they can read when they are older. I don’t know how much time she has left, and I wish I had gotten this sooner, but it’s never too late to appreciate the time you have left

A great way to learn more about your Mother-there’s also a version for Fathers
My brother and I keep talking about filming our parents as they talk about their childhood. It seems like we never get around to it. I happened to see the Father version of this book in a store and thought this would be the perfect thing for our parents to do to leave something tangible and personal in case anything happens to them. While no one wants to think of the inevitable, it will happen, and with this book you’ll have the good, bad, and in between of your parent’s childhood and life.My Mother said that my Father has really enjoyed setting time aside every day to complete the daily entry.

    Smaller than expected
(review written by Nick’s wife) I came across these memory books in a parenting magazine and loved the idea of having my children’s grandparents fill them out. I even bought some for my grandparents to fill out for me.After searching through everything Amazon has to offer, I ended up purchasing a variety of books. I bought Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa, Tell Me Your Memories. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I really didn’t think they would all be the same with a different cover page as they are. I was really disappointed in the size of the books. They are 4″ x 5.5″ with a 1″ spiral binding. Each is about 1″ thick. It is laid out for a full calendar year – each day having a different question or memory for the person do write about. The pages have a question at the top and are blank (no lines) below. The other books I decided to purchase are: A Grandparent’s Legacy and Memories for My Grandchild. A Grandparent’s Legacy is laid out month-by-month with topics to discuss. The book measures 8″ x 5″ with a nice covered spiral binding and is about .75″ thick. Each page has topics to discuss and lines for writing. Memories for My Grandchild has the most flexible layout – meaning there is no guide for filling things out at a certain time. It is also the largest book, measuring about 8″ x 10″ and just less than 1″ thick. It has a covered spiral binding. This is the only book with a pocket in the back to drop in any special items and a pull-out page to fill in the family tree. The pages in this book are lined as well. The books all cover similar questions and memories. I haven’t gone page-by-page to compare, but have been pleased with what I’ve seen so far. Since the books are so similar, I’m basing my overall opinion on the appearance. My favorite would have to be A Grandparent’s Legacy.

Leave them your special times and memories
You really should consider filling this out for your loved ones. I wish my mom had done one for me.

    Such a great gift!
My wife and I both got one of these to give to our mothers’. We told them to write one a day and gift it back to us next Christmas with it all filled out. It’s a great way to hear about stories that don’t usually come up in conversation. I like how small it is too. It makes it really easy to want to fill it out because you aren’t having to write full pages about little experiences. Our mom’s both loved it and are excited to fill it out. While we were all opening presents they went to some random ones and we head a few funny stories that we had never heard from them. There are a few questions we saw that don’t apply but we let them know to just write another little funny memory they have. I think this is a great gift for all moms!

I bought this for my mom and she loved it. She spent a year filling it out and then gave it back to me as a Christmas gift. Then we spent the day with her telling me the stories that are in it; which is something I will always cherish.
