Did exactly what it’s supposed to do. Regulates the refrigerator temp by way of the freezer
This part saved us from purchasing a new fridge or having a technician come out prior to us selling our home. No matter how many times we reset the temperature on the fridge side, it would beep three times, show the L1 code, and repeat about every five minutes.Do yourself a favor and do 2 things:First, get a long thin extension for your cordless drill to accept a 5.5mm socket. You”ll need to push harder than you think down on the drill to release the screws.Remove all the trays on the freezer side and there should be a metal panel held on by 4 screws. There is a vented section at the bottom. Dollars to donuts, its probably caked with ice, blocking the flow of cold air to the fridge side. Don’t bother with a heat gun, etc. Just remove the panel, take the block of ice out, clean out and replace panel. This is usually what causes the part to fail. It just works too hard, because of the blockage and no longer functions. On the top left of your fridge side, coming around to the front of the temperature panel, there are a series of screws to remove. There were 5 total in ours. And after an hour, I could only remove 2 of them, loosened one just enough to pry back the panel, and get to the part. Unhooked the 2 electrical connectors by feel. Make sure you keep the styrofoam in place, and reuse the tape from the old part if needed. But, you could even use plastic packing tape.I had to pull back, ever so gently, on the left side of the cover to finally reach my hand in to remove the part. Once out, and comparing the 2, putting the other one back in, and reconnecting by feel was pretty easy. Tightened everything back together, replaced the shelves and in about 20 minutes, not only was it cooling off considerably, the ice maker was already pumping out loads of ice into the bucket.Take your time, have some patience and you’ll save about $3-500 on a service call.

Worked like a charm and saved me $300
Had an issue with my 5-year old Frigidaire Side-by-Side refrigerator (FFH52311PFBA) no longer getting cold and blinking an H1 error after a power outage, but the freezer was still ice-cold (and frosting). After some research, I found it could be two things. 1. the damper (this part) is dead and needs replacing, or 2. the return airflow vent in the fridge that goes back to the freezer is blocked with ice – because the heating element under the fridge is not working properly (usually too much dust on the coils). After checking the vent (usually on the side wall behind one of the produce drawers) and seeing no ice blocking the holes and cleaning the dust off the coils for good measure anyway, I determined it was the damper that was causing the refrigerator to not cool. This thing is fairly easy to install. You can watch videos of people doing it on YouTube, which is what I did to determine how difficult it was. After calling around to a few local repair shops, they wanted $120 to walk in the door and diagnose, plus an hourly rate to do the work, PLUS the cost of the part which was about $40 higher than it was here on Amazon. I ordered the part here figuring I could always return it using Amazon’s wonderful return policy if it turned out it was something else that was more serious – requiring me to bite the bullet and hire that expensive professional. The part arrived in a day. It took me about 20 minutes to install by unscrewing the housing for it on the fridge side (make sure you have an extended 1/4 inch hex bolt/screwdriver bit). I unplugged the fridge, carefully disconnected the power connection and the sensor connection, then popped out the old one and put in this one. Didn’t even bother to install the faceplate that came with the new one as the old one was still fine and the part slipped right in. There are only two connections to deal with and a sensor wand, so the mess of wiring looks more intimidating than it really is. I carefully put it back together, plugged in the fridge and after a few seconds, I could feel cold air coming from that vent – indicating the door flap was opening working again. After about 12 hours, my fridge was back to normal again and I could feel the damper open and close when I adjusted the number dial on the fridge side. If you’re having this problem, check your coils for dust and your airflow return vent for ice. If that’s not blocked then this might be your problem, and it’s an easy money-saving fix. Good luck.

Para reparar mi refrigerador.

Easy to installâ¦. Took about 10 mins but you might as well clean the fridge while you have everything out – so really 25 mins.ð

Promptly delivered and it was relatively easy to replace. It fixed my poor fridge/freezer that was constantly cooling and freezing everything in the freezer while not getting enough cold air in the fridge section. Thanx!
